Students

7th - 12th Grade

Colossians 1:28 says, “Him (Jesus) we proclaim, warning and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.” Our mission at North Jax Students is to see students come to know Christ and mature in Christ. We want our teenagers to be grounded and growing in the faith, which means that they must take ownership of their faith.

What does it mean for a student to mature in Christ?
We believe that the New Testament presents three core characteristics of a maturing believer:
1. They Love God with all their heart, soul, and mind. (Matthew 22:37)
2. They Love People as they love themselves. (Matthew 22:39)
3. They Make Disciples here and of the nations. (Matthew 28:19-20)

We want to do everything we can to provide students with this biblical foundation that they will be building on for the rest of their lives. We strive to equip our students through small groups, Mid-Week (student worship service), various events, and continual involvement in the ministries of our local church.

SMALL GROUPS
Our small groups are led by student ministry volunteers who love students and desire to see them connect to the church and grow in Christ and take place Sunday mornings at 9:45. Each Sunday we gather as a large group to cover any important announcements and prayer together. After this brief assembly time, students are dismissed to their small group classes. These classes are divided by gender and paired by grade. For example, we have 7th & 8th, 9th & 10th, 11th & 12th grade guys classes. These classes gather for a bible study before splitting off into small groups within that class, where they focus on applying God’s Word to their life. We also challenge our small group classes to have regular class events that focus on building relationships within the group.

MIDWEEK
Our Mid-Week student service takes place each Wednesday night upstairs in our student worship room. Students start arriving for Mid-Week around 6:00 p.m. and will hang out in the common area upstairs until the service starts at 6:30. Mid-Week includes games and worship that are student-led, as well as a time of bible study and invitation led by Bro. Trey.

LEAD TEAM
We believe that student ministry should not just be done for students, but BY students. Lead Team gives allows us to further equip students to fulfill the Great Commission and prepare them to lead in the church today. It is open to high school students who desire to serve and lead in the following ways: Connect, Audio/Visual, Announcements, Worship, Event Planning, Prayer, Games, Photography & Videography. Students are asked to commit to serving for one semester at a time (January- June/July-December) and must meet various requirements and expectations.
